Winter Chic - Tights
And The Gals First Ever Giveaway
And The Gals First Ever Giveaway
True, it may be "unseasonably" warm across much of the US; however donning of black tights is the infatuation for Winter 2011.
I have a pair of shoes that I fondly refer to as my "Festive Holiday Heels." They are the perfect addition to give any holiday ensemble a pop of panache. Words cannot express how much I adore these shoes (thank you Target)! I love them SO much that I felt compelled to post them to my "Book of Face" wall....
The comments below brought about an interesting deliberation and observation...
Friends with a passion for fashion...
Pantyhose vs tights?? That is the question.
The discussion continued the next day with a bunch of our twenty-something friends, "What would you rather--tights or hose?"
It was a pretty unanimous response..."A smart way to keep warm while staying chic."
Dashing with flats.
Stylish with a pattern.
Classy with heels.
All the rage with boots.
The Two Gals recommendations for the latest stylish tights:
- Anthropologie - A great collection introducing fresh new styles. I'm pining for the Herringbone Tight.
- Banana Republic - From the classic black tight to sassy and dapper patterns.
- Forever 21 - An array of fabulous colors and patterns--and all at a FANTASTIC price points!
One noticeably absent Gal...
To quote Jenny on her thoughts of tights, "I am not a fan of having to mind my hiney whilst reaching down."
Jen has one of the most vast collections of adorable pants and dress slacks, in all colors and shades, I've ever seen. "I'm short and don't fancy heels, so my legs look like tree stumps." (Side note: This is a completely false statement--to which I utterly object--I've seen you in heels, gal!)
So what's the observation, you ask... Is there a generational divide between the wearing of pantyhose and tights?
Again, the ever witty Jenny stated that, "Pantyhose has panty in the name...and that's just awkward."
One of our fabulous friends, Laura, put it quite well, "I do not dig pantyhose--only two people I can think of that can get away with them in and our our age group: the Duchess of Cambridge and Miss America."
So what are your thoughts--is there a generational divide? What would you rather wear? Tights, pantyhose, stockings?
But most importantly, The Gals want to see your flashiest, swanky, elegant, and fun stockings!!
We'll be giving one lucky reader with the best legwear a wonderfully luxurious gift from our Product Showcase next week! With the holiday season coming to a close--it's time to relax and pamper...and with this giveaway you can do just that!

LOVE black tights when it's cool enough here for them. In fact, I've already started wearing them.
ReplyDeleteStill wear sheer black pantyhose for certain occasions, though.
My objection wasn't to tights -- love 'em with boots or flats! But with a high sexy heel, showing a little leg is de rigueur.......just ask any man which he would prefer to see.....Sheer black stockings, held up by something pretty, or thick black school-girl tights..... My original comment was directed at what looks best with a fancy, festive holiday ensemb, not office wear....
ReplyDeleteI agree, Emmy. I knew what you meant. :) I usually wear black tights with casual clothing and shoes.
ReplyDeleteI don't really understand the problem with nude pantyhose. Years ago, yes, they were a problem -- made your legs look orange, etc., but now they're so sheer and last so much longer. Glad to see the Middleton sisters wearing them. Also like the ones wear with shimmer.
As for being hot, Baby B, the ones I've worn are so sheer that that isn't a problem. I see people wearing skinny jeans in the heat. Now, THAT is way too warm for me. ;)
OK, girls, I call this 'Florida Casual Winter Chic' -- tights worn with my Clarks Mary Janes.

No snickering allowed. :P I took this photo in the full length mirror in the master bath. I'm just not tall enough to look down on my legs and take a pic.
